Discouraging Day

So today was a discouraging day and an eye opener!  We have been talking about calling daycare places for a while and made out list of ones we wanted to check out but hadn't actually done anything with it.  Well today I finally made some time and made some calls.
I called 8 different places, 6 daycare centers and 2 at home daycares, and only ONE, yes 1 of 8, had an opening before APRIL of next year!! That is almost a year away! The at home daycares said they weren't going to know forsure if they would have an opening until October or November of this year.  Which clearly we can't wait until then or the centers would be booked until the following October!  The one center that had the opening was the last place I called.  I was getting pretty discouraged by that last phone call, so when the lady said that they have an opening I didn't even know what to say since I was use to hearing, no sorry nothing available until at least April. While we had heard that wait lists were crazy and you had to focus on daycare early, we had no idea it was this bad! It was definitely an eye opener!
The list of 8 daycares that I called were ones we found close to the house since both Jason and I change jobsite locations often the only thing that is consistent is the house. But since it seems we only have one option around the house we are going to look into some other options downtown Denver which would be close to Jason's jobsite now since he is suppose to be there at least until the end of 2014. But then come the end of 2014 we would have to start this whole process over again! We will see what happens!
The one positive of our one and only daycare option is that one my coworker's daughter goes to that center and they have been very pleased with it. Of all the places I called that is the only one we know someone at, so that is at least a little comforting.  We are going to go look at it next Friday.  Hopefully, we like it and can put down a deposit to guarantee that Baby B will at least be able to go somewhere and then continue to look for other options.
